Firstly let me introduce myself...

Richard Calkin - Web Genius Founder and Managing Director

Since founding Web Genius in 2000, I have written and presented extensively on the subject of web marketing, presenting seminars throughout New Zealand, as well as in Australia, Asia and the US.

Much of this has occurred during visits to various parts of the world, where the Web Genius software and formulas have been set-up by our partners working in these regions.

In 2011 I published: The New Zealand's Small Business Superhero's Internet Marketing Handbook - a comprehensive guide to marketing a local business via the internet. You can find more information and even purchase a copy of the book here.

For many years I was a presenter of the internet marketing seminars NZTE's Enterprise Training Programme and have also written web marketing articles for Wellington's Dominion Post newspaper.

I have a social sciences degree and have worked in various forms of marketing and communications, including journalism, graphic design, print production, advertising, direct marketing, corporate communications and marketing strategy.

My experience in web marketing stretches back to 1995, when my company was contracted to build a website for a national electrical wholesale distributor. From that moment on, I have been preoccupied with discovering the most effective method for a business to market itself online.

My role at Web Genius involves keeping our web marketing methodologies at the forefront, and on designing software features that business owners will find most useful and effective.

Outside of work I am busy with family including three sons, one of whom - Tim - is a designer at Web Genius and my wife of over 20 years is Tania Dally: fellow owner of the company and Administration Director.

I have always been heavily involved in sport - primarily hockey and cricket - and had a brief stint with the Black Sticks New Zealand mens hockey team back in the late 80s. These days I keep fit by playing hockey for the local Kapiti mens team, as well as the New Zealand Masters 45+ team.

In the summer I turn out for the Shoe Clinic cricket team which plays in the Wellington Mercantile A grade competition.
