Setting up your site map
If your Web Genius website is more than a year old you may not have set up access to the Site Map that is automatically generated by the Web Genius system.
The importance of having a text-based site map is outlined in my previous post on creating a search engine friendly architecture.
Does your home page have a link with the words “Site Map” that links to your site map page? If not, I highly recommend that you add one for the reasons outlined in the above post.
It’s dead easy: just go into Site Center, access your home page, then go into the section where you want your Site Map link to appear. Type the words “Site Map” into the Textblock and, after that, select the text.
Then click the Link Tool in the toolbar at the top of the Textblock (it’s the one with the globe and the chain link). Near the bottom of the list of pages on your site that is available in the Link Tool is one called Site Map. Select this option…
That’s it!
(The only other thing that may need to be done is for an appropriate template to be selected. If clicking the site map link returns a blank page, please send an email to your Web Genius representative so the template can be assigned).
