1st rule of thumb - image file size: it is really important (for page load speed time) that images be compressed so that the file size is not more than 250kb.
If a customer has CMS access then this fact may need to be emphasised as the tendency is for them to load huge high-resolution images without resizing or compression.
Image sizes (general)
Homepage gallery images are usually 2000px wide and 500-600px high. This will depend a little on what the customer would like (we do have some clients who wish the homepage gallery to be very tall (see www.savannahconstruction.co.nz )
MCP Section (below Homepage gallery) this can be any size, and will depend on what the client's text requirements are but often not included in this section, or added as a full-width background image (see Savannah Construction).
SCP Section (the [usually] 3 'Service' areas listed on the Homepage) these images are usually 350px wide - 400px wide and around 300px high - they all need to be the same dimensions.
ASAP banners - same dimensions (usually) as the Homepage Gallery - 2000px wide by 500px high.
Image Galleries can have images of any size, however we recommend to clients that the images are all the same size and orientation (i.e. they are all landscape, or they are all portrait) to keep the gallery neat and uniform. If it is necessary that there is a mixture of portrait and landscape, we may recommend a certain type of image gallery type to best display the images, or we will process the images so that the best outcome is achieved for the gallery display.
Image processing time
This is our standard response to clients if they ask how long it will take to process images for their website:
" As a general rule-of-thumb Web Genius is able to load 3-4 images in a 30 minutes content-edit time-frame. This is based on images which are of good resolution and size (dimensions), correct orientation, and do not require extensive cropping, compressing, enhancing for such things as lightening, darkening, sharpening. "
It will depend entirely on how many images the client has, and whether they are already in the correct dimensions and have been compressed. If they have 20 images for a new image gallery and they are already processed (correct dimensions, correct file-size etc), then we can probably do this within 30 minutes.
Web Genius Support
Customers are encouraged to email any and all enquiries through to: support@webgenius.co.nz. This ensures that all customer enquiries are automatically added into our customer request ticketing system; Zendesk. This is true for Finance/Billing enquiries, Product/Contract enquiries, SEO and Search and Google/Facebook Ads enquiries, as well as website edits or help enquiries.
This also ensures that there is an audit trail saved of each enquiry should it need to be referred to for any reason.
This does not mean the customer cannot email the Sales Advisor directly, however it does negate any delays in responding or double-handling.
Once received into the Zendesk system, the requests are assigned to the appropriate team and that team's SLA (acknowledgement of request receipt and their current timeframes for action) is emailed to the customer.
Support standard SLA for website edits
All requests for website content edits will receive the following automated response:

Depending on the amount of requests we are dealing with it may take up to 3-4 working days for standard support requests.
Is this request urgent?
If you would like your website edited urgently, please reply to this message with "Urgent" at the beginning of the subject line.
We aim to complete urgent requests within one business day when possible. All urgent requests incur a minimum charge of $95+GST, and will be completed outside of our standard support queue.
Standard support requests will be completed automatically if under two hours work unless you've requested an estimate. An estimated cost and timeframe is provided for larger jobs. Following any free Support minutes with your website package, standard charges apply. Free Support minutes do not accrue, if not utilised in the calendar month they will expire.
Standard Support hours are Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm.
