At Web Genius, we recognise the contribution our clients make daily to the Kiwi way of life and believe that all of New Zealand deserves to know as well. Small to medium businesses are the backbone of the New Zealand economy and the perseverance of many Kiwi businesses is nothing short of heroic. It’s time to put your business in the spotlight, and the Kiwi Business Awards are designed to do just that.Who is eligible?
Every Web Genius client running a small to medium business is eligible. All you need to do is complete the entry form before the annual deadline or before 20 entries have been received, so get in quick!
Entries for the 2025 awards will open September 2025.
How does it work?
Your business profile will be added to the Kiwi Business Heroes website where voters can learn about your business and its story, leave a comment or review - and of course, vote.
Once the voting deadline has been reached, the top five entries will be selected to go before a panel of judges. They will choose the one business story which stands out above all others. All five businesses will receive prizes for making it into the final five.
How does my entry benefit my business?
Even the businesses that don't make it into the final five will receive free benefits from their entry:
- The event will generate free online publicity through social media and the Kiwi Business Heroes website. This will generate backlinks and social signals which are important aspects of the Google ranking system.
- The event will generate free publicity for the business, through both online and offline streams.
- Placing your entry in a pool with other businesses widens your potential customer base, as the customers and communities of each business are brought together.
What do I need to provide?
Entering is simple — all we need are the basics: your name, your business name, and a short description of what your business does. After the entry period there will be a period of public voting. The five entries which receive the highest number of public votes will be selected as finalists. Finalists will then be asked a few more questions so our judges can get to know your story in more detail.We’re especially interested in business stories that demonstrate:
- Perseverance — how you’ve overcome challenges on your path to business success.
- Community value — evidence that your products or services are highly valued (such as testimonials, reviews, or customer stories).
- Economic contribution — how you support the Kiwi economy by employing staff or using local contractors, products, and services.
- Giving back — ways your business contributes to the community, such as sponsorship, charitable activities, or local involvement.
